Am I Qualified to use your Social services?
Due to strict funding guidelines, to use the emergency social services offered by The Family Resource Center, you must fulfill all the requirements below:
- Residency in the Oxford/Talawanda School District for 6 moths or more
- Household income of less than 125% of the Federal poverty guideline
- Household has experienced any one of the following unexpected financial crises:
- Unexpected expenses due to car or home repairs, medical expenses.
- Temporary loss of income
- Major family event, i.e. birth, death, divorce or child custody issues.
- Household has or will have the income to support future expenses.
Other FRC social services fall under separate guidelines, please check your eligibility in order to ensure you receive the most of our assistance.
What KIND OF DONATIONS ARE accepted?
We are happy to accept all kinds of material donations Here is a list to help guide you or be sure to call us for any specific inquiry.
Clothes: Clean, gently-used clothing are accepted.
Household Items: Small appliances, small furniture items, kitchen and bath wares, microwave ovens, small TVs, flat screen TVs, books, jewelry, school and office supplies. Due to space limitations, it is recommended that you call ahead regarding the acceptability of any large household or furniture item, particularly washing machines, couches, and large televisions.
Nonperishable Food Items: Non-perishable food are accepted only during business hours.
Hygiene Items: Unused personal hygiene products are accepted only during business hours.
DO you accept Mattresses and Beds?
Due to public health concerns and sporadic pest control issues we are unable to accept or sell these items in any condition. Call our office if you have a need and we may be able to match you with someone else in the community to meet your needs.
What Happens To the Donations?
Donations of clothing, housewares, furniture, and other small items are sold through FRC's Common Cents Thrift Store. Donations of food are primarily passed through to local agencies such as the Oxford Community Choice Pantry. Personal hygiene items are made available to homeless individuals and families through our emergency social service program.
Where can I send my Donations?
Please see our business hours here to find out when we are open. There is also a drop box at the side of Common Cents thrift store for drop offs after business hours. We also offer pick up service on certain days; call our office to make an appointment and check availability.
