Job Readiness - Helping Members Prepare for 1 Year at 1 Job
One of the greatest barriers to economic self-sufficiency is job-hopping. Changing jobs frequently means always starting over and never establishing a long-term work record that can lead to advancement and increased income. We provide the support and services our Members need to achieve that first, important step to becoming economically self-sufficient – 1 Year at 1 Job.

Job Readiness Workshop
To help our Members prepare for full-time employment and to understand employers' expectations, each Member agrees to attend a one-week Job Readiness Workshop. The workshop – offered monthly, meets Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Oxford Works office. Members must have attended an Information Session prior to beginning the workshop.
Topics included in the workshop are: Applications, References, Making Commitments, Attitudes, Building Confidence, Employer Expectations, Problem Solving, Removing Obstacles, Conflict Resolution, Values, and Health and Wellness.
The Employment Support Specialists (ESS) help Members identify their strengths and assess their skills and qualifications for the positions they desire. There is no cost to become a Member or to attend our workshop, only a desire and commitment to improve your life and the life of your family.

Interview Preparation
Preparation is the key to successful interviewing. Volunteers from the local business community conduct practice interviews with our Members.

Lifetime Membership
Members who complete the workshop receive a lifetime Membership to Oxford Works – a lifetime of support to help handle the stress of managing work and life so that they can achieve economic self-sufficiency.
